Gary Roehrig, Roehrig & Savola Builders, New Holstein, WI

Gary Roehrig has worked in the building industry for the past 31 years.  He began working in carpentry with his grandfather in his younger years assisting him in his building business.  The income he received enabled him to work his way through college from 1964 to 1968.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in History/Social Studies; minor in Geology –Secondary Education.  He taught in the New Holstein school system from 1968-1978.

In 1978 he formed Roehrig & Savola Builders with a teaching colleague.  Upon the death of his partner in 1984 he assumed full control of the business up to the present time.  Gary operates in the greater Calumet County area, building 2-3 homes per year and also is involved in home additions, remodeling, window replacement and has done some light commercial.  He enjoys working one-on-one with his customers to provide the personal touch in all of his projects.

He is a Charter Member of Mid-Shores Home Builders Association (1998), has served two terms as President of Mid-Shores, Government Affairs chairman since 1998 and was Mid-Shores Builder of the Year in 2005.

He has served as WBA Government Affairs Chairman (2004-05); chaired the Builder Licensing sub-committee which saw the implementation of the first Builder Education Law in the State of Wisconsin ; was chairman of the Master Builder Certification sub-committee in 2008-2009 and chairs the Green Building task force in 2009.

Gary is a member of the Winnebago East Shore Lions Club for 31 years (31 years of perfect attendance); served as President for two terms ; has been Secretary for the past 13 years and is a volunteer Wisconsin Lions Eye Bank Tissue Transporter.

He is a high school football official for 41 years, is a DNR-certified Hunter Safety Instructor and a Habitat for Humanity volunteer.  He is a part-time instructor for the ABC Carpentry Apprentice program at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac.
He and his wife, Kathy, have 3 children-Terri, Beth and Tim and 5 grandchildren.  He enjoys hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing and spending time with the grandkids.
