Doug Scott, Advantage Homes Janesville, WI
Doug Scott was born into the building business in 1952. His grandmother’s family owned a small chain of lumber yards which his father went to work for in 1953. His father later started his own building company, Amwood Homes that Doug worked for growing up during summer breaks and other times.
After graduating from UW-Madison in 1975 with a degree from the School of Business emphasizing Construction Administration; he started his full time employment with Amwood Homes selling and building new homes in the Beloit area. He finished his MBA from UW-Whitewater in 1982 while continuing to work for the family business.
In the late 1980’s Doug and other members of the family purchased Amwood. In 2004 the company expanded with the acquisition of the assets of Windsor Homes in Madison. Doug also continued in the general contracting business since starting Advantage Homes starting in 1991.
Advantage Homes has been a member of the South Central Wisconsin Home Builders Association since 19991. Doug has held a number of committee chair positions as well as President of SCWBA in 1994. He also has been a trustee of Building a Better Wisconsin since 1996 and is now a Life Trustee as well as a Life Director of the WBA.
When not working, Doug enjoys participating in sport activities and travel. He has two grown daughters, Jennifer and Megan, three grandchildren and wonderful wife, Mary.
