A local soldier was wounded in Iraq in July 2006. He was going to come home to his “fixer” home which he and his wife purchased just before he left for duty. Specialist Raymond Hubbard lost one leg below the knee among other wounds.
In less than two weeks LBA volunteers completed modifications to Specialist Hubbard’s home to accommodate his needs. Volunteers completed a long list of home improvement projects and modifications and materials were donated. The homecoming for Specialist Hubbard attracted national attention from CBS News and the local media.
