Education Committee
The mission of the Education Committee is to promote greater awareness of the remodeling industry to the public and the new homebuilder industry and to offer business education to remodeling professionals to help in their success within the industry.
The goals discussed take a "3 prong approach":
1. Public Awareness of the Remodeling Industry
How to hire a remodeling contractor
Should I remodel or build new?
Cost vs. Value of various remodeling projects.
Enhance consumer education by developing avenues to "get the word out".
2. Business Education for Remodeling Contractors
Local association business information seminars.
State association business information seminars.
National association business information seminars.
Certification awareness- Certified Graduate Remodelor™
Peer group opportunities- ie Remodeler-20
3. New Homebuilder Awareness
How do remodeling companies and new home building companies differ in business approaches.
Create a relationship between new home builders and remodelers for lead generation and referrals.
Membership Committee
Goal of the membership committee is to initiate and develop a Remodelors™ Council within each local. The committee will work toward this goal by:
Creating a new member folder with council information and a list of tangible benefits.
Sending council members to attend general membership meetings around the state.
Recruit around the state at events like Board Day, Convention, and UDC Training.
Government Affairs Committee
The goal of the Government Affairs Committee is to educate members on code issues; work with the State of Wisconsin Building Inspectors Association to enhance communication and education by and between the SWBIA and the Remodelors™ Council; create and maintain a presence on the UDC to keep it aware and sympathetic to remodeler issues; and report to the council information from other associations (WBA, NARI, Metro and others) Government Affairs meetings and vice-versa.
Public Relations Committee
The goal of the Public Relations Committee is to establish media ties, relations, and outlets for issues and concerns for remodelers, and website development. In the long term, move remodelers away from the image of home improvement and handyman services.
