June EO Update

New Association Health Plan

Recently, the WBA rolled out its new Association Health Plan in conjunction with The Insurance Center of Wisconsin.  Together with WPS Health Insurance, Arise Health Plan, and Aspirus Arise, WBA members can offer employees high-quality coverage and networks, affordable plans, and a wide range of benefit choices.

The details of these new group plan offerings are available here. If you are interested in having someone present on the new association health plan at your next meeting, please contact Fred Wilmsen at fwilmsen@ticinsurance.com.

WBA Receives 2017 NAHB AEA Best Website Award

The Wisconsin Builders Association has been recognized for its outstanding website with an Award of Excellence from the Executive Officers Council (EOC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

"The Association Excellence Awards recognize the outstanding effort, commitment and achievement HBA staff and an association's membership have made," said Eric Person, EOC President and Chief Executive Officer of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Central Connecticut. "These awards demonstrate the best of the best! The awards showcase the innovative programs and resources that local and state homebuilders associations across the country are developing for their members."

The recipients--selected from a pool of more than 120 applicants--represent achievement in six pillars: Communications, Education, Government Affairs, HBA Operations, and Membership & Revenue. The Wisconsin Builders Association received "best website" for a state association in the Communications category.

In an effort to continually improve our online experience for both members and local staff, we have additionally sent out a website feedback survey. Please take a few moment to fill this out and enter for your chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card!

Reminder: Filtered DSPS Recruitment Lists Now Available!

Want a list of solid member leads for your local association? We've got you covered!

In the past year, the WBA  has worked with a data management company to turn the credentialed builders list from the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services into something more efficient!

In its raw form, the list contains a wide variety of licenses outside of just dwelling contractors, and it is not easily sorted into counties or territories. There is also no easy way to remove existing members.

We've been able to turn this list into something more useful by assigning zip codes to local HBA territories, and then cross-referencing the existing WBA member list in an attempt to weed out as many existing members as possible. For the time being, we've focused just on builders with DC/DCQ licenses, though we may expand this in the future.

You can now go to the EO Resources section and download the list of credentialed, non-member builders in your territory! Click here to check it out!

The WBA is using this information as part of its digital marketing strategy to contact non-members each month with useful information about the building industry and what the WBA and locals do on their behalf. However, we want to share these non-member lists with each local so they can use in their own marketing efforts!

Start Planning for Fall Early

If you are planning on having a member of the WBA leadership team attend a meeting this fall and would like to make that contact early, please contact Brad (bboycks@wisbuild.org) to get lined up with who has been assigned to your local in 2018.  For instance, in the past locals have asked for WBA leadership members to attend and perform their installation of officers, but we leave it up to you to pick what event you would like to have someone attend.

Also, if you were looking for an association and/or legislative update and preview of the 2018 state elections this fall, feel free to contact Brad to schedule a time for him to attend a local HBA meeting (advocacy, board/executive committee/general membership meeting).

Save the Date! Afternoon Member Meeting Day & President's Installation Dinner Feb 8th, 2019

Mark your calendars! The WBA will be holding its first Member Meeting Day of 2019 in conjunction with the President's Installation Dinner on Friday, February 8th at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Madison.

2019 WBA President Harvey Kessel will be installed along with other senior executive officers that evening. You can learn more about the evening's activities here.

NOTE: Unlike prior years, the Member Meeting Day will be condensed and held that afternoon, in an effort to make both events not such a  a large time commitment.  There will be a Local Executive Officers Meeting kicking off the Meeting Day from 11:30 AM - 1 PM (lunch will be provided).
