October is Careers in Construction Month

Click here for a lot of great content to promote to members and consumers through press and social media. Keep an eye on our social media channels on October 1 as we will be publishing a column with member quotes, calling for workers to join the construction trades. We’d love it if you’d share our post!

Member Info

This is a plea on behalf of us at WBA, as well as our members: Please ensure member info is input and updated in WMS!

Many of you have your own membership software, but when a member joins, they must be entered in WMS otherwise they will not receive emails, information, and benefits from WBA nor NAHB, and state and national do not receive the portion of dues that we should be getting. Additionally, when a member has a change of contact information, whether it be physical or email address, please also make sure that gets updated in WMS. It isn’t fair to them to be paying for a three tiered membership if they’re only receiving information from the local association because state and national doesn’t have their updated information.

Lastly, when members request members-only login credentials for our website, we verify through the WMS records, as that’s the only information we have to go off. If we cannot find an individual because they’re not listed as a member of record in the system, we then have to ask them which local they’re a part of so we can verify with you all, and more often than not, individuals say they’re not the member of record, but someone else from their company is, and expect to have their credentials approved. To approve them, those individuals need to either get an affiliate membership OR you at the local level should switch them out as the member of record if the actual MOR is not involved, something we will need your help and cooperation with on the local level.

Thanks all for your help getting the database updated!

Nominations & Awards

Please start giving thought to those individuals you would like to nominate to the WBA Board of Directors, as well as those individuals you would like to nominate for state awards to be given out at the WBA Installation in Door County in February. Nomination forms for 2020 have been posted to the EO Resources page and are due December 13, 2019.

Welcome, Heidi!

Heidi Van Kirk has recently started as the new Executive Officer for South Central Wisconsin Builders Association in Janesville, replacing Jenny Shieve. Brad, Joan, and Alicia will be meeting with her next Tuesday, but in the meantime, please reach out at your convenience to welcome Heidi and share any tips and resources you feel may be helpful to her as she gets used to the ropes.

Blueprint & Advocacy Update

The most recent Advocacy Update and Blueprint have been posted. Please feel free to include in any communications or social media posts.

Local Installation Requests

If you would like to request the attendance/participation of a WBA Executive Committee member for your local installations, please contact Brad Boycks at your earliest convenience.

Flyers and Resources

Just a reminder that you all should have received an invitation to the new google drive that I created thanks to Chad’s suggestion at the EO Summit. It is more extensive than the few materials we have posted on the EO Resources page, and will be a great tool for you all to share documents with each other. If you haven’t already, make sure you create your account if you don’t already have one, and check it out!

Once we receive documents from Dean that were shared at the summit, they will be posted on the google drive as well.

2020 Presidents Installation

Save the Date for Jeff Dorner’s Installation as WBA President on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay. Robyn has been busy planning the details and things are shaping up to be a great night; anticipated entertainment will be a comedy show! Keep your eye on future communications and the event page for registration information. Including a save the date in your communications would be appreciated!
